Linda Scoles: "A journey to citizenship"

Event type: speaker meeting
Date: 21st February 2024
Time: 2:30 pm
Group: monthly speaker meeting
Venue: Talking Point at Melbourn Science Park
Cost: free for members

You’re invited to our speaker meeting in The Talking Point Suite at Melbourn Science Park in the village of Melbourn on Wednesday 21 February from 2:30pm. Here’s a map to direct you to SG8 6HB where you’ll find ample parking. It was lovely to see so many turn-out for our speaker in January. However, we have been asked to be more careful about parking outside Talking Point - please do not block any other cars in. But we do look forward to seeing you!

Our speaker this month is the lively Linda Scoles, an American who came to England in 1971 with her children and American Air Force husband. They settled into the village of Gt Barton, Suffolk. Ten years later, when he retired from USAF they elected to stay in the UK.

Linda’s talk ‘Journey to Citizenship’ will cover their decision to take on dual nationality and what was involved in becoming a UK citizen. Seemingly every candidate has to take a test and it’s been the same test since 2005. Could you pass it? You are certain to be surprised at what has to be learned to pass the UK citizen test.

The talk will start at 3:00 pm on. Doors open at 2:30 pm when you may enjoy a tea and say thanks to our helpers.
